See what you guys don't know, and what them recruiters fail to inform us all, I'm about to tell you.
First of all, they say you'll get a $38,000 GI Bill(for school) when you get out. Well see, this money is mostly yours. They take out $100 from you're pay checks, per month. Until a few weeks ago, that is. They recently stopped the deduction for the GI Bill, and every cent we've paid, will be paid back.
And they also say, if you're single, you eat and live for free. NOT true. They take out about $350 from my pay for meals...that taste like POOOOOOOP! And living in the barracks, we get $12 BAH(basic allowance for housing) but if you live off post, depending on your rank, we get about $400(atleast) So because we don't live off post, they don't give us that money...it's like rent.
When they say you'll get 30 days paid leave per year, don't get too excited. Your First Sergeant has to approve it first. If you've been in any kind of trouble, or there is any kind of training coming up, they probably won't approve it. You can't just tell someone your taking a week of leave and then just go. Although that would be sweet.
And the barracks...go to youtube.com and search Fort Bragg Barracks Video.
But I will say that the free medical and dental is awesome!!!
